T-shirts
ValleyFest
Again I was going for the blue and orange color palette and an urban feel to this shirt. I started by modifying our VF logo by putting it in a different font: Degrassi. For the back I went through a couple of different treatments. Making it look like the information was graffiti on a brick wall was difficult on a t-shirt because I could only use so many colors and the texture and amount of detail is significantly less compared to a poster. Finally I decided to make the most basic brick outlines for the wall and use a graffiti style font--Bring Tha Noise--for almost all the lettering. Using strokes around the words helped to make them seem as if they were spray painted on.
Vintage ValleyFest
In the vein of reaching out to our past, we decided to produce a vintage t-shirt to give to alumni who would, hopefully, donate to the 2008 festival. I envisioned this shirt as an old rock n' roll t-shirt--something a little worn and used. For the front I faded and distressed our normal VF logo to make it look like it had been beaten up but still stood the test of time. On the back of the t-shirt I had to figure out how to put 12 different logos on, in chronological order and still look clean. As the theme of the t-shirt was going back in time, I felt the most logical set up was a clock, a little cliche but effective nonetheless.
ValleyFest Event Staff T-Shirt
Knowing that I would eventually be wearing one of these event staff t-shirts I figured that if it was going on my back, I would want it to look good and not be boring. I decided to take the "ValleyFest" from the back of the festival t-shirt and put that on the front of the event staff tee. Using strokes and shadows I was able to make it look like a graffiti tag even though it was only one color, black, with the t-shirt color showing through. The back I knew had to be bold, legible and plain. Using some offsetting shadows I jazzed up your typical "EVENT STAFF" logo.
