Web Ads
Comedian - Bernadette Pauley
These little web ads, used on the college's new online portal, MyLVC, were challenging. I had to get a good amount of information in a small area and still make it fun to look at. When I browsed through Bernadette Peters' website and saw that picture with the same cut line, I knew that it would be my angle for the ad.
LVC Movie Night - JUNO
Sticking with the orange, white and green scheme for the movie's promotional material, in this Juno ad I decided to use only Ellen Paige because trying to squeeze two figures and all the show times on there would have been near impossible to read and enjoy. The lines of the background made it simple to set text off by itself while having it look like it belonged in the design.
LVC Hockey Game And Hershey Park Late Skate
I'm proud of this ad because I actually took the picture that I used. Setting off information by itself with a solid color background was a very easy way to make it readable. The dynamic action of the photo took care of the eye-catching criteria of the ad so the rest of the information could be straight forward.
Lazer Tag Night
Space age. Futuristic. Exciting. Those were the three words I tried to keep in mind when designing this ad. Borrowing Master Chief from the hit videogame HALO, I figured that if people saw a figure they knew, it would get them interested in what the ad was about. I used a couple filters on the picture and put it in front of a space backdrop.
Voices Of Social Justice
This design was one of those that just came to me as soon as our Director of Multicultural Affairs, James Felton, came to me with the task. I wanted to create a feeling that said, "I'm going to be heard." I found the perfect picture to do so and backed it with a blue and white stripes.
Asian Heritage Days
I knew that for this design I didn't want to be too on the nose about promoting an Asian heritage. It needed to be simple but not too stereotypical. I think I accomplished both of those goals and at the same time provided the necessary information.
ValleyFest Pizza Night
Cowabunga Dudes! Like many children of the 80's, when I think pizza I think the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I was hoping that other students would as well. So I threw together this design featuring Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo chowing down on some 'za hoping that it would promote my audience to do the same.
